Sports Labs Ltd is a professional services organisation offering Consultancy, technical support, project management and contract administration to a wide client base. The Company also is one of the largest performance testing Companies Globally testing sports surfaces to various BS, EN, ASTM, ISO and governing body test specifications. We are located in our head office and laboratory in Livingston and across the UK, Europe and internationally via our field testing technicians and satellite laboratories based in South Africa, Holland, Turkey, Morocco, Nordic regions and 2 locations in the USA.
Sports Labs Ltd is seeking a responsible and self-motivated graduate engineer, with a minimum of a 2nd class honours degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent to work within the busy Consultancy Dept of Sports Labs. We have a young dynamic team operating within Sports Labs main offices and provide a first class service to private clients, local authorities, clubs, schools and universities. The main duties of the role will be;
To support contract work developing feasibility studies, planning applications, specifications, tenders, project management work, contract administration work.
Good quality CAD work experience is essential and an ability to produce drawings and plans necessary.
Experience of site survey work is essential.
Previous experience of working on busy Civil's sites would be an advantage here particularly highways or large scale earthworks contracts.
A knowledge of drainage, geotechnics would be useful in this role
We currently have expertise in all the above areas and are looking to strengthen the tea due to an expanding work portfolio. You will be working with a senior manager and an experienced engineer with support from technicians and administrative staff.
Place of Work
The majority of work will be conducted from our head office and laboratory in Livingston Scotland, approximately 20 minutes from Edinburgh. However project work is in all parts of the UK and Ireland inclusive of the Rep of Ireland.
Duties and Responsibilities
Technical authoring and the preparation of drawings and specifications for contracts
Preparation of feasibility studies, cost plans and planning applications
Support site activities, site visits, key stage inspections, surveying, setting out
Preparation of tenders and bills of quantities, tender assessments
Qualifications and Experience
Degree in relevant technical discipline – Civil Engineering or equivalent
Experience with CAD, NBS software
Familiarity with standard office tools, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook for everyday tasks and professional report writing
Experience/Knowledge of the following is Beneficial
GPS and survey equipment
Complex excel spreadsheet functions and macros
Experience using mathematics in engineering
Monday – Friday: 8am-5pm with overtime available
Flexible hours to suit business
Probationary period: 6 months
