Who are we?

Sports Labs Ltd is a consultancy practice specialising in synthetic surfaced sports facilities design, procurement, project management and testing services.

We offer a full range of Civil Engineering services, which is complimented and supported by our fully equipped synthetic materials testing laboratory. Our administrative Head Office is in Livingston, with regional offices in Bath. Engineers are also based in Durham, London and Birmingham to provide UK wide coverage.

Sports Labs staff comprises of qualified Civil Engineers with geotechnical, building and contract experience this is complimented by staff with a sporting background who can assist in designing facilities/surfaces with the end user in mind.

We are Professional Services Members of SAPCA (the Sports and Play Construction Association) the UK trade association for the sports facility construction industry. SAPCA represents specialist constructors, manufacturers and suppliers of sports surfaces and related products and plays an important role in the promotion of high standards for sports facilities.

Our Services

We can provide a start to finish service, if required. Alternatively we can offer selected services as part of a team of professionals. In either instance our approach is the same, with our goal being the delivery of a facility that lives up to the expectations of the end users.

We adopt a flexible but professional approach to assisting our clients in obtaining a facility, which for many of them is the culmination of many years fund-raising and planning.

We provide a wide and comprehensive range of testing services which are accredited through International Sports Governing Bodies.

Tests are regularly used to assess sports surfaces used for the following purposes:

  • athletics
  • football
  • hockey
  • multi-games use (indoors and outdoors)
  • netball
  • rugby
  • tennis
  • recreational playground surfacing

 

Technical Specialism

Sports Labs have been involved with many of the premier synthetic facilities such as major athletics tracks or National Stadia being constructed in the UK and Ireland in recent years. This however has not been to the exclusion of smaller scale multi use sports facilities.
